But with hindsight, I think they did struggle with the requirements that their pupils be taught the approved analysis of a text to such an extent that the pupil could then regurgitate two-thousand words of said analysis onto an exam paper.

(Reminds me of the argument I had with my Year 7 biology teacher, who swore blind that all fish laid eggs - because that was the syllabus-approved knowledge for my age-group - despite me having seen the guppies in my fishtank giving birth to live young the week before.)</description>

I love the idea of a snobby English teacher, shoe-horning their own interpretations of a piece onto students. They are more educated on the subject matter, so logic would suggest that their impression and interpretation of a piece must be the correct one... that is until you realise that no amount of education can enlighten somebody who is blind to art. It&#039;d be entirely possible for a teacher to misinterpret a piece if they didn&#039;t have the syllabus to guide them.</description>
